Despite already holding the top spot for domestic, foreign, and total worldwide earnings, Avatar set some new records during its eleventh weekend, surpassing $700 million domestically and $2.5 billion worldwide.
In the domestic market, Avatar fell back to fourth place with $14 million in sales. Shutter Island continued its hold on first place, while Cop Out and The Crazies came in as second and third in their debut weekend. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief rounded out the top five.
Avatar continued to do well internationally, where it made an estimated $36.1 million across foreign 70 markets.
